She was born on May 3, 1936, in Waynesboro, TN, to Harry and Aileen (Dickey) Keeton. She married Wallace D. Groom Jr. on August 25, 1955, in Mississippi. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2015.
Her parents and one brother, Jim Keeton, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children, Gayla Groom of Guatemala, Tim Groom of Princeville and Greg (Julie) Groom of Henry, IL; 17 grandchildren; one brother, John Keeton of Old Hickory, TN; and her best friend and neighbor, Bettyann Harrison.
Sue was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who deeply loved her grandchildren. She was of the Methodist faith, a member of the Illinois Button Society and worked as a part-time sales associate for Bergner's. Sue loved antiques and was an avid collector of antique buttons, winning both state and national honors for her collection. More so, she will be remembered as a loving and caring person who always saw the best in everyone. She will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be Monday, November 13, 2017, at 10 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service, at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton funeral home in Peoria. The Rev. Will Meachum will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Jubilee Cemetery in Brimfield, IL.
