Born May 22, 1961 in Monmouth, IL to Charles Keith and Mary Ruth (Perrine) Erlandson; he married Kimberly Hickey on September 13, 1986 in Monmouth.
Surviving are his wife, Kim Erlandson of Peoria; children, Jeff Erlandson of Peoria, Jenni Erlandson of Bloomington, IL, Torye (Tom) Marek of Fontana, WI and Julie Penn of East Galesburg, IL; brothers, Stephen (Karen), David (Kathy), Jerry (Mary) and Joe (Nancy); mother-in-law, Janice Hickey, brother-in-law, Kevin (Sue) Hickey and several nieces and nephews. He was awaiting the birth of his first grandson due in late summer 2023.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Mary Lou and his father-in-law, Dave Hickey.
Jim loved his family with everything he had and kept them always in focus, supporting their passions and cheering them on. He was a giant gentle soul who didn’t know a stranger and had a special ability to make dogs love him. He was fortunate to have two dogs that meant the world to him, the late Tyrus and the puppy Mo.
Jim held a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Economics-Farm Management from the University of Illinois in Champaign where he played offensive tackle as a walk-on all four years and culminated his collegiate football career playing in the 1982 Liberty Bowl.
Jim spent his entire career as a Farm Manager with Greene Farm Management and Paul Farm Management.
He was an ALC Certified Appraiser, Past President of the Realtor’s Land Institute, and was a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, and Illinois Society of Professional Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. He was also a member of the U of I Alumni Association, the Varsity I Association and of Nabor House fraternity at U of I.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the St. Francis CVICU for giving them 3 more years with Jim.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Friday, April 21, 2023 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
