Ivy Rae Slutz, 98, of Peoria, Illinois, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Skylines Nursing Center in Peoria, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 7, 1916 in Peoria, Illinois to Raymond C. and Pearl (Reinhart) Parmenter. She married Kenneth G. Slutz on May 30, 1940 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1981 in Peoria, Illinois. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jack Parmenter and one sister, Shirley Caldwell.
She is survived by four sons, Brian (Nola Miller) Slutz of Peoria, Illinois, Richard (Marilyn) Slutz of Hopewell, Illinois, Gary (Mary) Slutz of East Moline, Illinois and Greg (Margaret) Slutz of Bellaire, Texas. Ivy Rae also is survived by seven grandchildren, Bryson (Danell) Slutz, Emily (Joel) Austin, Katie (Ben) Endress, Marie, Valerie, Kim and Becky Slutz and eleven great grandchildren and seven nephews.
She was a lifetime member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church of Peoria, where she served as a Deacon. In earlier years, she worked at Caterpillar Inc. and was a Girl Scout Leader. She was an avid golfer and loved to play Bridge. One of her favorite hobbies was painting. She loved to travel, and one of the highlights of her life was when her family moved to Scotland in 1956 and lived there over four years.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Bruce Endress will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
