She was born July 11, 1923 in Spring Valley, IL to Arthur and Ruth (Cornish) Weeks of Bureau, IL. She married Paul Q. Turner in Peoria Heights on Jan. 12, 1946. He preceded her in death in Oct. of 1994 in Peoria. She was also preceded by her parents; step mother, Helen Church; son, Paul A. Turner; great grandchild, Addison Koenig; sister, Marjorie Zeman; and brother, John Weeks.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Richard) Rellihan of Findlay, OH, Mari (Mike) Hoopingarner of Eldridge, IA; grandchildren, Jen (Brian) Koenig of Normal, Andy (Dani) Lynch of Mitchell, S.D.; step grandchildren, Brandy Hoopingarner of Morton, Bradley Hoopingarner of Peoria; great grandchildren, Matthew, Grace, and Kenneth Koenig of Normal, Ethan and Phoenix Lynch of Mitchell, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
Helen worked at PA Bergner & Co. for 30 years retiring as Personnel Director in 1985. She was an active member of the Peoria Heights Congregational Church since 1948 and was in the Women’s Fellowship Group there. She was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Bergner Retirees Club, and Parkinson’s Support Group.
Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with Pastor Karl Kraemer officiating. Visitation will be from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday. Cremation will be accorded following services with burial of ashes at Parkview Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to her church, Parkinson’s Foundation, or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
