She was born May 22, 1931 in Aurora, IL the daughter of James and Mabel Siedel Kerr. She married Tom Tapp on June 7, 1968.
Helen is survived by her husband of forty-seven years; one daughter, Lisa Grammer of Peoria; one son, John Kelly of Peoria; two step-daughters, Tammy Traywick of Decatur and Terri Rhoades of Morton; one step-son, Mike Tapp of Bloomington; two sisters, Mae Kelly of Washington and Carolyn Kelly of Peoria; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She adored her granddaughter, Nikki, great-granddaughter Hailey and great-grandson Hayden. She was their GiGi.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Helen worked at Kaufman’s Furniture for seventeen years. She then delivered the Journal Star with her husband for 41 years.
She is a member of Limestone American Legion Auxiliary Post 979 for 35 years. Helen was kitchen chairman for their bingo on Sunday nights for ten years. She loved to play bingo, fish and travel in her motorhome. Helen and Tom went to Florida for 15 years in that motorhome and stayed for 5 months during the winter.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday May 9, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Pastor John Bagley will officiate.
Entombment will be in Chapel of Peace at Parkview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
