Helen M. Sturgis

Peoria – Helen Marie Sturgis, 88, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at her home. She was born in Peoria on September 14, 1932 to Theodore and Theresa Lucille (Albersson) Shreffler. She married Harry Franklin Sturgis on April 12, 1952 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2003 in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Randy Dean Sturgis; grandson, Billy Joe Burnett; great-granddaughter, Tori Sturgis; son-in-law, Stephen Lindstrom; two brothers; and two sisters.

Helen is survived by her six children, Vickie (Jacob) Jones of Green Valley, David (Shirley) Sturgis of Washington, Debra Lindstrom, Sandra (James) Wiesehan, and Harry (Sandy) Sturgis, Jr., all of Peoria, and Penny (James) McCarroll of Creve Coeur; one step-daughter, Sheri (Jerry) DuBois of Castle Rock, CO; 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and brother, Jack Shreffler of Washington state.

Helen worked as a custodian for the Commercial National Bank in Peoria for many years. She was a member of the Pekin Moose Lodge 916. She loved to solve word search puzzles, spend time with her family, camp, and go fishing.

Helen’s funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Her visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 8, 2021 also at the funeral home. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will take place at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen.
