Helen Marie Parker

She was born on October 22nd, 1935, to Clarence and Annie Mae (Wimberly) Johnson in Meridian, Mississippi. She was the youngest of 13 children. She married Carl L Parker on September 6th, 1974, in Champaign, Illinois. He preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her life and legacy 3 sons, Luther (Alma) Scott of Panama City, FL, Ralph (Lucy) Scott of Dallas, TX, and Jeffrey Scott of Peoria, IL and 1 daughter, Annie Atkins of Peoria, IL. 1 stepdaughter, Tonya (Colin) Nisbeth of Chicago, IL. 1 special daughter in-law, Rena Jordan (Scott) of Indianapolis, IN. 2 nephews, Daniel (Vivian) Mason Jr of New Orleans, LA. and Donald (Harriet) Mason of Baton Rouge, LA. 13 Grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 14 great great-grandchildren, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Earline Mason, and Mary Petty, 1 brother Cecil Johnson, her brother-in-law who had a hand in raising her Daniel Mason Sr, 1 granddaughter Christian Atkins and 2 great-grandsons Tahj Atkins and Couriaun Atkins.

Helen worked at Bradley University for 24 years retiring in January of 1998. She was a bright light to so many instilling wisdom and knowledge in anyone who crossed paths with her. She loved her family and was there for them whenever she was needed. Throughout the years she not only loved and took care of her family, but she loved and took care of her many pets. She also loved gardening and taking care of her community. Her all-time favorite thing to do was to go fishing. She was a member of the Gospel Experience Church.

Homegoing Services will be held Saturday, March 25th, 2023, at the Gospel Experience Church at 10am with visitation one hour prior. Dr Richard K Hammonds will officiate. Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Peoria Chapter and Bradley University.
