Peoria- Helen Moody, 92 of Peoria passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
She was born October 12, 1922 in Gadsden, AL to Oscar and Riley (Kyle) Holt. She married Richard Melvin Moody on September 16, 1938 in Peoria. He preceded her in death December 12, 1998 in Memphis, TN.
She is survived by; her daughters, Marilyn Sue Hicks of Peoria and Sally Ann (Mack) Pitre and Carilyn Elaine Daniel, both of Memphis, TN; and her son, Richard Michael (Angie) Moody of Peoria; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Sammie Holt of Cleveland, OH and Mack (Jackie) Holt of Milwaukee, WI; and two sisters, Joanne (Melvin) Boone of Milwaukee and Cynthia Barner of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Katie, Oscar, Carol, Elbert, Shirley, Leon, Harold, Roger and Robert.
Helen worked as a Nurses Aide at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for more than 20 years serving with the early dialysis center, intensive care unit (ICU) and in the special care nursery.
She enjoyed bowling as recently as her 90th birthday and loved to dance, play bingo and travel.
She was of the Catholic faith and formerly attended St. Paul Catholic Church while living in Memphis.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Friday, April 10, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Peoria.
