Hannah L. Morris, 20, of Peoria, passed away at 5:08 p.m. on Sunday July 14, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family. Hannah was born December 9, 1992 in Peoria, the daughter of Steven & Christine Farwell-Morris. She is survived by her parents, Christine & Charles Murphy; her father Steven Morris; her grandmother, Janet Farwell; sister, Ashleigh Morris; half-brother, Baylen Morris; half-sister, Shelby Davis-Morris; step-brother, Kevin (Shannon) Murphy, stepsisters, Lindsey Murphy and Sarah (Adam) Knickerbocker (all of Peoria). Among other survivors are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Chester Farwell.
Hannah was a 2011 graduate of Illinois Valley Central High School in Chillicothe, IL. She loved playing her clarinet “Buffy” in both Concert and Marching Band. After high school, she attended Methodist College to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a nurse. She then wanted to continue her education to become a midwife. Close to the end of her sophomore year of nursing school, she was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue Sarcoma. This diagnosis led her and her family to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. From Rochester, she and “Team Hannah” were referred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. There, she was enrolled in a clinical trial, which proved to be ineffective. Any available treatment was taken over in Peoria, IL, where Hannah was determined to keep fighting to win this battle. Unfortunately, the cancer proved to be too aggressive. Throughout her life, Hannah touched the lives of many people, but since her diagnosis in mid-April, she impacted lives in Peoria, Rochester and Chicago. Her journey ended when she took the hand of Jesus and stepped into her eternal life.
Hannah loved her kitty Blackbeard, peacocks, The Wizard of Oz, and watching reruns of “I Love Lucy” with her sister and mom and dad. Hannah and her family are long time attendees of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria where she helped in the Pre-K department.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday July 21, 2013 at Grace Presbyterian Church on Route 91, Peoria, IL. Pastor Greg Grindinger will officiate. Visitation will be at 3:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be given to Black Buffalo Ministries of Silverton, Oregon or Hospice Compassus of Peoria, IL.
