Gordon Lee Adams, 91, of Peoria, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Sharon Healthcare Elms in Peoria. He was born on March 17, 1932 in Chillicothe, a son of Arthur Neal Adams and Emma Belle (Pierce) Adams. Gordon married Ilse Ursula Moss on April 11, 1989 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his three daughters, Donna (Ken) Kirkman of Indiana, Lynn Laredo of West Peoria, and Nancy Fogle; one step-daughter, Barbara (Scott) Gonyeo of Maryville, Tennessee; two step-sons, Milton Moss of Tampa, Florida and Michael Moss of Largo, Florida; seven grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
He was the valedictorian of Chillicothe High School Class of 1950.
Gordon served his country in the United States Army and will be honored for his service at a later date.
He worked as a technician for the National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria for over 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Illinois Valley Striders. Gordon was an accomplished entomologist, an avid photographer and a competitive runner.
There will be no services at this time. Cremation has been entrusted to the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.
