Geraldine Evelyn Schmidt, 89, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday December 6 2023. She was born February 11, 1934 in Richmond Virginia. She was the second born daughter of the late Martin Luther Branch and Pearl Evelyn (Gallop) Branch. Geraldine married Donald Louis Schmidt on December 19, 1952 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1998 in Peoria.
Geraldine is survived by two sons Donald Schmidt Jr., Christopher (Toni) Schmidt and one daughter Evelyn (Steve) Herron Sr.. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Christopher Schmidt Jr, Tobey (Erik) Natzke, Elizabeth (Josh) Evans, Louie (Ashley) Schmidt, Kathryn (Josh) Braun, Steven (Amanda) Herron II, Kate Schmidt, Levi (Juli) Herron and Kevin Schmidt. She also has 19 great grandchildren (one on the way) and 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her sister, Joyce (Denny) Denslow; son, Ernest Schmidt; granddaughter, Jennifer Frick; and grandson, Benjamin Herron.
She was a member of Chillicothe Bible Church. She was a born again Christian and a consistent prayer warrior. She used her love of cooking, sewing and mailing cards to encourage family and friends. Her selfless love was felt by all and especially by her grandchildren.
Geraldine's funeral service will be at 11 am Saturday December 16, 2023 at Chillicothe Bible Church. Visitation will be from 9 am to 11 am preceding the funeral service. Burial will take place at Chillicothe City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peoria Rescue Ministries or to Calvary Baptist Academy in Chillicothe.
