He was born on May 20, 1935 in Hamilton, OH to John Ray and Ruth Lee (Whitaker) Stout. He married Nancy Jean Porter on August 2, 1958 in Hamilton, and she preceded him in death on May 28, 2004 in Peoria.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Betsy) Stout, and Julie (Stan) Stout-Gorbatkin; granddaughter, Hannah (Lucas) Forsythe; and great-grandchildren, Miles, Adrian, and Finn Forsythe.
In addition to his wife, and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Stout; and an infant sister, Caroline.
George was retired from CityLink, and was formerly an auto store manager with Mongomery-Ward.
He was a dedicated member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and was active in helping with youth missions, and The Great Banquet. He was a volunteer at Proctor Hospital, and the Community Workshop & Training Center, where he helped to teach reading. He enjoyed bowling, and supporting the Peoria Players Theatre.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the brothers of his Fourth Day Group, and the staff of OSF St. Francis Medical Center in caring for George in his final days.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 11 AM at Northminster Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to the Youth Ministry at Northminster Presbyterian Church or to a charity of the donors choice. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
