West Peoria, IL – Gary D. Monroe, 62, of West Peoria passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born Feb. 7, 1950 in Peoria, IL to Edward “Ted” and Audrey (Haslam) Monroe. He married Sally Ragains in Peoria on June 24, 1972. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Tanner Monroe of Tampa, FL, Nathan (Heather) Monroe of Peoria; one granddaughter, Raegan Monroe; five brothers and sisters, Edward (Glenda) Monroe of San Bernardino, CA, Rick (Nancee) Monroe of Peoria, Margie (Gary) Mefford of Damon, TX, Tom (Janine) Monroe of Peoria, Patti (Tony) Thornton of Bartonville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Matthew. Gary was a sheet metal worker with JA Fritch and Son in Peoria for over 35 years before retiring. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local #1. He was also in the Army National Guard. Former member of the Peoria Elks, Izaac Walton League, and the Farmington and Hanna City Sportsman’s Clubs. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral Services will follow at 6 p.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Michael Brown officiating. Cremation will be accorded following services with burial of ashes at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.
