Peoria Heights: Frederick W.Backus, 71, of Peoria Heights passed away at 12:00 a.m. on Monday,September 16, 2013at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Fred was born August 29, 1942 inPeoria, IL the son ofJohn &Nellie Cathran Backus. He married Mary Ellen Anderson . He later married Rosemarie Legros in Catlin, IL on June 14, 1986.Both preceded him in death. He is survived bytwo daughters, Heather (Alex) Jones of Peoria Heights,Leatha (Tony Wise) Backus of Manito; one daughter-in-law, Beth Pagel of Peoria Heights; one grandson, Zachary Backus; one great-grandson, Dante Backus; one brother, Robin (Kim) Backus of Indiana; four sisters, Dorothy Wiedeman of Peoria Heights, Nelsean Palmquist, Marjorie Bell. both of Peoria, and Virginia Issacs of Cicero, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Fred was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters,three brothers and a daughter, Denise Williams. He was an inspector at Caterpillar Inc. until his retirement in 1992 The family would like to thank Rosewood Nursing Home and Passages Hospice for their exellent care. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
