Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at University United Methodist Church in Peoria. Rev. Ethan Carnes will officiate. Visitation will held on Tuesday from 11-1 p.m. also at the church. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Born September 1, 1925 in rural Toulon to Simon Peter and Nellie Ellen (Large) Bryan, Faye spent her childhood on the family farms. She attended Wethersfield High School in Kewanee. She began her career as a stenographer at Taylor & Sons in Kewanee.
Faye married Donald E. Cain in 1950 in Kewanee. They moved to Urbana, then to Peoria where they raised their family. She later married Warren Nelson.
Waiting for her in heaven are her parents, her beloved brother James, cherished daughter Sandra Faye, both husbands and dear grandson Parker Cain.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Anderson of St. Charles and her children, Stan (Ann Higgens) Cain, Bloomington; Donna (Michael) Dwyer, Odell; and Martin Cain, Peoria. Her grandchildren are Dustin and Tyler Cain, Grace and Dan Dwyer, and Madison Cain. She had five great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.
Faye was a voracious reader, skilled quilter and seamstress, lover of music, and a dedicated mother. She was a faithful member of University United Methodist Church in Peoria where she taught Sunday school for many years, served in missions, and became the first female usher. She was active in Church Women United.
Memorials may be made to University United Methodist or to Tjardes Health Center at Evenglow where she received exceptional care.
