Erik Herrera

Erik was born on September 25th, 2002, in Chicago Illinois. He is the son of Fernando Herrera and Reina Foster. Erik attended grade school at St. Mark Catholic School and completed his high school career at Illinois Valley Central High. Erik was in the process of continuing his education at Illinois Central College. He was employed at Rivian.

Erik was employed throughout high school and his main goal was to save his money to buy himself a motorcycle. His love for motorcycles began at just two years of age. He had a heart of gold and a smile that would light up the whole room. His sense of humor was truly one of a kind and his laugh would make anyone who was having a bad day smile. His passion for working out in the gym inspired and motivated his family, friends, and even strangers. Erik was very much loved by his parents, grandparents, brother, sisters, uncles, aunts, friends, and so many others. His unique and caring soul will forever be remembered, and those who crossed paths with him will forever be blessed to have experienced the beautiful person he was.

Erik was preceded in death by his grandfather Manuel Herrera. He is survived by his parents Fernando Herrera and Reina Foster, his brother Fernando M. Herrera, his sisters Viviana Herrera-Martinez, Melissa Herrera, Ariana Crooks, and Meilani Herrera. Grandparents Manuel Lopez, Lupe Lopez, and Maria Herrera. Uncles, Ruben Herrera, Daniel Herrera, Ramon Gomez, and Manuel Tirado. Aunts Lupita Naranjo and Maria Herrera-Roque. Cousins, Carlos Herrera, Christina Murillo, Stephanie Moreno, Nayeli Herrera, and Isabella Roque.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday July 20th, 2023, with a 11:00 Mass to follow at St. Mark Catholic Church 1113 W. Bradley Ave, Peoria, IL, 61606. Burial will be held after Mass, at Parkview Cemetery on 2021 N. University Peoria, IL, 61604.
