Emile was born February 15, 1925, in Amioun Lebanon, the son of Abraham and Sadi Ghantous. He married Amineh El’Darazi in Lebanon on July 24, 1948. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2012 in Peoria. Also preceded in death were one sister (Wafa), one brother (Camille), one son (Philip), and one daughter (Susan).
He is survived by two sons, Hassib (Helene), Waheeb (Roula), and one daughter Vickie (Naim), all of Peoria; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Emile immigrated to the United States in 1959 and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who dedicated his life to his family. He was a skilled tailor for men’s and women’s clothing. He started his tailoring career as a teenager and last worked for the Bell Clothing company for over 35 years before retiring. His passion in life was being surrounded by his family and friends. He was an Orthodox Christian and member of St. Elias Church in Peoria.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 7:00 p.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Parkview Cemetery 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012. Father Habib Ghantous will officiate.
