He was born to Howard Thomas and Edna Pearl. (Gebhart) Sylvester on April 12, 1943, in Peoria IL.
Ed was a proud United States Navy Veteran and was honorably discharged March 18 1966. He then went on to work for Caterpillar for over 35 years retiring in 1998. In his free time he loved to square dance and even went out and bought a big passenger van for himself and the dancing club to ride in to events. Ed moved to Pekin later in life so he would have some property to take care of, he loved the outdoors. He even bought himself a tractor to mow his large yard. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races with his son and most of all loved to watch Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson in action.
Ed is survived by his Mother Edna Sylvester, his children Tim (Sandi) Sylvester, Keri Sims; grandchildren, Megan Bowers, Katie Sylvester, Emma Sylvester, one niece, one nephew and a beloved dog Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his father, one sister Vicky, and one niece.
A funeral will be held 3:00pm on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with a visitation being held an hour prior.
Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
