She was born April 9, 1927 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Victor and Elizabeth (Reynolds) Perkins. She married Ernest “Ernie” West on July 11, 1949 in Louisville, KY. He passed away on Aug. 25, 1014 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Roger West, one grandson, Stephen Garner, and one sister Ella Hedger.
Survivors include three daughters: Michelle (Richard) Akins of Watertown, WI, Diane (Douglas) Hewison of Watertown, WI, Beth (Michael) Martin of Casco, ME, one daughter-in-law, Valary West of Dallas, TX, nine grandchildren: Luke (Kayla) Akins, Molly (Aaron) Strouse, Katie (Jason) Tschida, Daniel Akins, Douglas (Becca) Hewison, Jr, Barry Hewison, Ben (Jill) Hewison, Sonja West, Brandi Martin, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Edna was a 48 year member of the University United Methodist Church in Peoria. She was very active with the church and was the Attendance Secretary for many years. She was a member of the University United Methodist Womens Organization, a longtime member of the Newcomers Alums; she volunteered at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Food Pantry, and was a member of the Peoria Women’s Civic Federation since 1978.
Her primary focus was always on her family. She was famous for repeating with fervency…”family is everything”. She enjoyed playing bridge and watching the NFL.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the University United Methodist Church in Peoria. Rev. Paul Arnold will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 am up until time of service at the church. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Entombment will be in Parkview Cemetery Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University United Methodist Church or the Marquardt Hospice in Watertown, WI.
