Dwight was a United States veteran of the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and the United States Air Force, serving from 1949 till his retirement in 1988. He was proud of the fact he went on the Peoria Honor Flight in Sept. 2015 with his daughter Maralee.
He was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria for nearly 70 years. While at church he was active serving as an usher, deacon and a trustee. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He was a kind and gentle patriotic man who loved God and his country. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family and making homemade ice cream. He will be dearly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice and the staff at Liberty Village for their care and compassion for Dwight during his illness.
