Douglas "Doug" Moore

He was born April 6, 1963 in Peoria to Cleatus and Nadine (Hutchison) Moore. He was the youngest of two children. Doug married Caroline Decker on Oct. 18, 1997 in Peoria. They had two children, Amanda Renee and Brady Allen, both still in Peoria.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Caroline, children, Amanda and Brady, his brother, Jeffrey (Connie) Moore of Mansfield, IL, his niece, Ashley (Gavin) Foster, as well as cousins.

Doug graduated from Limestone High School in 1981. After graduation, he moved out east, where he spent several years doing various jobs. Upon his return to the area in 1994, Doug began working for Bradfield’s Computer Supply in Peoria. He worked in many different capacities there, including office furniture and work station construction and installation, computer work station creation and assembly, and specializing in fixing all types of printers all across Central Illinois. Bradfield’s is also where Doug met his beloved wife. Doug always enjoyed working at Bradfield’s, and greatly appreciated the close relationships he developed with both the owners and his colleagues. He often commented that Bradfield’s was a second family for him.

Doug’s pride and joy in life was hands down his family. He was a devoted husband, and he and Caroline enjoyed doing just about anything outside. They spent time traveling to various parks where they could hike, fish, and enjoy nature. Their typical anniversary celebration was spending time at a cabin on the “farm,” which was a house he built with his dad on some recreational fishing and hunting property. Doug’s proudest legacy was his children. He spent all his free time with them. From when they were little and playing games, building model airplanes, creating with legos, or playing softball/baseball; to when they got older and he volunteered as a “band dad” building and moving props or driving the robotics team, Doug was always eager to support and teach Amanda and Brady the life skills they would need to thrive and be happy. He passed on to both of them his love of the outdoors, his thrill of hunting, his fundamental sense of the importance of family, his wisdom, his sense of humor, his kindness, and most of all his love. He also passed along his unfaltering love of the St. Louis Cardinals.

When Doug wasn’t working or spending time with his family, he could be found spending time with and helping his friends, watching Cardinals baseball, or cheering on the fighting Illini. He also enjoyed traveling, taking trips to various parts of the United States with his family and friends. One of his favorite trips was to Yellowstone, where he had hoped to one day return. His completion of this part of life was far too soon, and he will be greatly missed. One thing is certain though, heaven gained another angel. From there he will be smiling down watching his family flourish and cheering for his beloved Cardinals.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Memorials may be made to the Lustgarten-Fundamental Pancreatic Cancer Research Association.
