Dorothy “Dottie” Mae Ellis, 85, of Peoria, entered the Gates of Heaven at 2:26 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Washington Senior Living. She was born on December 31, 1936 in Kewanee, a daughter of Herman and Gladys (Thompson) Elgin. Dottie married Harvey Ellis on December 22, 1967 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1998 in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Robert (and Darlene) Elgin.
Dottie is survived by her two sons, Richard Ellis of Peoria and Steve Ellis of Springfield.
Throughout her life, she worked at numerous jobs, such as being the co-owner and co-operator of the Harvey Ellis Insurance Agency in Peoria with her husband. Dottie last worked as a manager for The Attic in Peoria, which she enjoyed the most and worked there until moving into long-term care in 2018 after over 20 years of service.
Dottie was fortunate in her life to have traveled to nearly every state and Europe. She cared for many cats and dogs throughout the years. She also had a strong faith and lived her life trusting in God. She is now at peace.
Dottie's funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, May 23, 2022 at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Pastor Jason Woolever will officiate. Her visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
