I’m a worker at Lutheran Hillside Village and I was very frounte to get to know Donna for about a year. Without a dought, I would leave her table with a smile on my face. Sometimes she gave me that little push to get me through that last part of my shift. Now I have another guardian angel looking down on me. I hope heaven makes your favorite, Arnold Palmers.

Donna was such a bright light at Lutheran Hillside Village. I known her many years since working in Independent living and after transferring to assisted living. Her smile and laughter were so contagious and you couldn't help but smile being around her. She loved people and the residents just gravitated towards her positivity. Even during her health struggles she always cracked a smile and joked. I am going to miss her a lot and strive to be like her in my life. Kindness goes a long way. Her family was just as wonderful as she was and it warmed my heart to see them with her continously. Rest in peace Donna and can't wait to see you again someday! 

I work at Lutheran Hillside Village in the dining room. I always loved serving Donna. She was the kindest person I had ever met. She was never in a bad mood and it was so refreshing. Her passing deeply saddens all of us from Sunflowers and the rest of the assisted living staff. I will forever remember her smile as it would light up the whole room. 

So saddened to hear of Donna's passing.  I am one of the drivers at Lutheran Hillside Village who enjoyed very much taking Donna to doctor's appointments and to the grocery store and having chats in the dining room.  She was always very pleasant and would always ask about how my family was doing.  She will be sorely missed by family and friends and all who came into contact with her.


Heartfelt condolences go out to Donna's immediate family while she was a resident at LHV. She was such a pleasant, lovely woman whom I will miss dearly.

To the family of Donna Smith,  I'm one of several CNA's at Lutheran Hillside Village who got to take care of your mother.  Her passing is a big loss to us all.  In talking with my fellow co-workers, etc., there's one thing we'll never forget about Donna . . . . her laughter! I'm going to miss our evening visits, always asking about myself and family (she always loved a good story and I had plenty of them and she did too) she was such a kind soul and so loved by all of us.  Never once did we see her sad, fuss or get upset about anything.  She brought so much joy to us and boy are we going to miss her.  She was one of a kind.  You will never be forgotten my sweet Donna.  God Bless.  P.S.  May Heaven be filled with many "Red Hats."

Donna married Jerry Young in 1954 and later married Merton H. Smith on May 9th, 1970. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merton; her parents, Edward and Litta; daughter, Diana; and son-in-law, Edward.
