Donna Mae Royer, 93, of Peoria, passed away at 12:54 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Christian Buehler Memorial Home in Peoria. She was born on April 5, 1925 in Canton, IL to Harold Cecil and Sylvia Mae (Raker) Hale. She married Morris Eugene Royer on Sept. 4, 1943 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1991 in Peoria. She was also preceded by her parents, one son Rick Royer, and one sister Helen Dean.
Donna Mae is survived by five children, Ron (Pat) Royer of Chandlerville, IL, Becky Peterson, Randy Royer, and Rina Goodreau all of Peoria, and Robyn (Mike) Mahoney of Germantown Hills; fifteen grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She had been a secretary for St. Francis Medical Center for many years. She was a Proud Alumni of Manual High School, Class of ’43.
Her favorite pastime was reading. So many books, her garage was turned into a library. She was our “Google” before the internet. She enjoyed going to plays as a season ticket holder for Peoria Players and Corn Stock.
Donna Mae never knew a stranger. Her gift of gab was contagious. She was funny, smart, caring, giving and loved by so many.
She was a wonderful mother who made her children and grandchildren her whole world. She was our rock. When she said, “Everything is going to be alright”, you knew it would be.
She will be sorely missed, but her family left behind knows she is in a better place with family that have welcomed her with open arms.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Christian Buehler Memorial Home for the loving care they provided to their mother during her time there.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in care of the arrangements. On-line condolences and tributes may be made at www.davison-fulton.com.
