He was born Sept. 9, 1927 in Elmwood, IL to Edwin and Pearl (Stevens) Wolland. He married Virginia Raymond on April 17, 1954 in Peoria. She passed away July 29, 2021 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Daniel Raymond Wolland, two brothers: Edwin Wolland, Russell Wolland, and two sisters: Evelyn Bontz and Betty Smith.
Survivors include one daughter, Donise (Bill) Brown of Lewisville, TX.
Don was a WWII Navy veteran enlisting in the Navy at age 17. Following his time in the military he worked as a Chemical Engineer at Caterpillar, Inc. for 42 years retiring in the early 1990’s.
Don and Virginia were very active in their communities they lived in. Some of their memberships included the American Legion Limestone Post 979, the Lake Placid, Florida American Legion Post 25, Lake Placid Elks Club, East Peoria Boat Club and the Izaak Walton Club. Don was also a member of the Farmington, IL Moose Lodge 1571, Lifetime member of the AMVETS Club, the Sebring, Florida VFW Post 4300, Ducks Unlimited, and the National Wildlife Association.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Don’s life will be Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria.
Inurnment will be in Parkview Cemetery with his wife Virginia at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Izaak Walton Club, or the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
