Born May 5, 1930, in Wewoka, OK, to Jess and Inez (Schmidt) Norvill, he
married Virginia Weber on January 23, 1955, in Peoria. She preceded him in
death on June 28, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his brother,
Melvin (Red) Norvill, and sister, Sue Jaquess. Surviving are his two
children, Diane (Harry) Johnson of Peoria and Steve (Kim) Norvill of East
Peoria; five grandchildren, Kelli (Russell) Owens, Marci Johnson, Cydney
(Brian) Newlon, Landon (Alyse) Norvill, Elliott Norvill, three
great-grandchildren: Russell Wright, Teagan Owens, Camille Owens, and nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Deisel Mechanics School in Memphis, TN, Don served in
the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict, spending 30
months at Itazuke Air Base (Fukuoka, Japan). He received an Accommodation
Ribbon for Superior Service as a Senior Electrician during his service
there. He was employed at Caterpillar, Inc. for 43 years, retiring in 1992.
As a man of great faith in Christ, Don was an active member of the Zion
Lutheran Church (Peoria) until its closing in 2019.
Don was loved by all who knew him, was extremely handy, an auto enthusiast,
loved to learn, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:30 am at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Pastor Michael Jones will officiate.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery with Military Honors.
