He was born May 20, 1945 in Peoria to Michael and Dorothy (Meyer) Miller and married Joy Johannes on September 2, 1967 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife Joy Miller of Peoria; sons, Timothy Miller (Amy Ashley) of Flagstaff, AZ and David Miller (Natalie Collier) of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Richard (Marilyn) Miller of Orange Park, FL and James Miller of East Peoria; and 4 nephews.
Preceding in death were his parents; son, Martin Miller in 1996 and his sister, Patti Jo Wasley.
He was a 1964 graduate of Woodruff High School and attended Illinois Central College.
Dennis worked through the IBEW Local #34 for many years and then the Hiram Walker Distillery. He then worked in the Engineering Department at Ameren in Peoria and retired in 1999 but continued working there well into retirement.
He was an avid racing fan enjoying Nascar and road racing, especially at Road America in Wisconsin, where for the past 5 years he served as a concourse judge for the Hawk Series Vintage Sports Car race. He enjoyed scouting as a youth and in leadership as an adult. Other hobbies included creating stained glass and blown glass artwork.Dennis held a fondness for the landscape and culture of the Southwest.
He will be remembered for loving his family, being a gentleman and telling a good joke.
The family will celebrate his life with a funeral service at 10:30 am Friday, March 18th at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home at 2408 West Willow Knolls Rd in Peoria. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
