David L. Young Sr.

Peoria – David L. Young, Sr., 64, of Peoria, IL passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side. Dave was born May 4, 1951 in Peoria, IL to Carl and Irma (Florey) Young and was raised by Robert and Irma Levi. He married Vicki Richards on June 7, 2008 in Peoria, IL.

Surviving is his wife Vicki Young of Peoria, IL, three daughters: Dawn (John) Michael of Hanna City, IL, Lori (Tony) Collins of Washington, IL, and Beth (Don) Draper of Bloomburg, TX, fifteen grandchildren, a great grandson, his sister Linda Egan of Peoria, IL and his four brothers: Steve (Mary) Levi of Norwood, IL, Robert (Cindy) Levi of Norwood, IL, Daryl (Carolyn) Young of Tremont, IL, and Brian (Heather) Levi of Pekin, IL. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Levi who raised him, and his son David “Davy” L. Young, Jr.

Dave was a veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam with the 31st Combat Engineers. After his service to our country, Dave went on to work for Caterpillar for forty-two years as a machinist and logistics coordinator in East Peoria, retiring in 2014.

Dave’s hobbies included gardening, traveling with his wife Vicki, hunting, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his family. Dave was a member of PrayerView Community Church in Peoria, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Monday, November 9, 2015 at PrayerView Community Church in Peoria, IL. Pastor Kenneth W. Durst will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded.
