He was born April 21, 1923 in Peoria, IL to Walter F. and Ida May (Entwistle) Andrews. He married Shirley E. Bennett on December 27, 1947 in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley of Peoria, two children, Kathy (Paul) Packard of Normal and Bruce D. (Eileen) Andrews of Oak Forest, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Michael Packard of Normal, Karen Packard of Schaumburg, Marissa and Carly Andrews both of Oak Forest and several grand-dogs.
David served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the University of Illinois in 1947. He worked as a Salesman for Couch & Heyle for 45 years retiring in 1983 and then he worked for Midwest Hydro Line for 5 years retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Rotary Club of Peoria, and served on the Salvation Army Board from 1965 and the Exposition Gardens Board for 25 yrs. He was a 50 yr member of the Masonic Lodge 263, Scottish Rite Body, Valley of Peoria, the Mohammed Temple Shrine, Shrine Senior Nobles and drove the Shrine Hospital Van to Chicago on 78 trips. He was a past president of the KTC and vacationed at his Wisconsin Duck Lake Cabin for 61 years. He also enjoyed sailing, the circus, and traveling.
Cremation will be accorded and a memorial service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the United Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Rev. Dr. Randall Saxon will officiate. Arrangement made through Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home.
