Connie Jo (Walden) Cavanagh, 67, of Peoria, IL, passed away unexpectedly on August 27, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Hospital. She was born on April 5, 1956, in Peoria, to Robert Walden and JoAnn Kay Looft. She married Roger Cavanagh on September 21, 1985, in Peoria. Connie was also a cherished mother to Erin (Sharbel) Shanine and adored by her grandsons, Luca and Hudson Shanine.
Connie is also survived by her parents Robert and Judith Walden, her aunt Dulcie Hinrichs, her siblings Rex (Lillian Viera) Walden, Michael (Mike Payette) Walden, Kim (Todd) Snarr, and Debra (David) Kenny, her stepdaughter Carrie Slick, her step-granddaughters Andrea Slick and Devyn (Kyle) Kapraun, step-great-grandchildren Vivian and Damon Kapraun, as well as three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her biological mother JoAnn, her uncle Ken Hinrichs, her grandparents Ethel and Charles Looft and James and Ella Walden.
Connie graduated from Richwoods High School in 1974 and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She worked for Aetna Insurance and later dedicated over 25 years of her life to a successful career as a realtor with Jim Maloof Realty.
In her free time, Connie was an avid Cubs fan with season tickets and spent over 28 years attending the Cubs spring training in Arizona. Her enthusiasm for the sport was infectious, and she enjoyed sharing that joy with her family and friends. Connie also thoroughly enjoyed her winters spent in Florida.
Connie was an extremely selfless, devoted, and caring individual who dedicated much of her time to looking after those around her. Most of all, her grandchildren meant the world to her, and her favorite times were spent with them. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her humor, strength, and unwavering love for her family will forever be remembered.
A memorial service to celebrate Connie's life will be held on Tuesday, September 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church at 6:00 p.m., with a visitation prior at 4:00 p.m.
