She was born July 01, 1945 in Belzoni, Mississippi to Bill H. Henderson and Anna Kinner-Wise. She married Ernest B. Rutherford on March 28, 1965. She was employed full time at St. Francis as an elevator operator, secretary for the sisters of OSF Third Order Chapel Nuns and Herb Walker Catering of Peoria as an assistant caterer, but most of all a loving wife and mom.
Christine accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church under the leadership of former Reverend George Lobdell, Linnell Thornton, Pastor Alvin Riley and presently Pastor Joshua M. West. She served faithfully on the Pastor’s aid, Kitchen and Transportation Committee and where ever God had a task she obediently honored his will.
She was survived by her loving and devoted husband Ernest B. Rutherford, and five children; Shirine Rutherford, IL; Sheane Rutherford AZ; Turrinea Rutherford AZ; Tylease Rutherford IL; and Tyson Rutherford IL. Five brothers: Bill (Lorene) Henderson of Los Angeles, CA; Willie (Florida) Henderson of Sunflower, MS; Lydell ( Resa) Henderson of Indianola, MS; Roydell Kinner and Roddell (Gwendolyn) Kinner of Jackson, MS. Six sisters: Hazel (Robert) McCaskill of Chicago, IL; Dorothy (William) Greenwood of Chicago, IL, Catherine (Willie) Gibson of South Africa; Loraine Wise, Marilyn Wise of Jackson, MS. and Easter Baker of Cleveland, OH. Also survived are eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren with considerable amount of nieces, nephews.
Proceeded in death are her parents: Anna Kinner-Wise and Bill H. Henderson; sisters: Ruby Vaughn, Jennie Henderson, Edna Williams, Mae Ola Henderson, and Darlena Henderson, one brother Willie B. Kinner, and one great-grandson Yisrael D.B. Young.
A funeral will be Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 am with visitation two hours prior to the service at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church 413 W. John W. Gwynn Jr. Ave, in Peoria. Pastor Joshua M. West will officiate. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Entombment will follow the service at the Parkview Cemetery, Chapel of Peace Mausoleum in Peoria.
