Christina "Chrissy" Dian Simmons

Christina “Chrissy” Dian Simmons, 47, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at UnityPoint Health - Methodist in Peoria. She was born on December 13, 1974, in Peoria, a daughter of Terry L. and Elaine (Toms) Simmons.

Chrissy was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Amie; her grandmother, Lillian Toms; and her uncle, Henry Toms.

She is survived by her mother, Elaine Simmons of Peoria; brother, James (Heidi Jo Wys) Simmons of Bartonville; grandfather, James (Karen) Toms of Dixon; nephew, Byron Simmons of Bartonville; aunt, Dianna Toms of Dixon; uncle, Bob & aunt, Sheila Higham of Peoria; her dog Sammy and many cousins.

Chrissy was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and country music fan. She loved going to concerts especially Reba McEntire and Garth Brooks. She also enjoyed listening to her nephew Byron play music, watching Golden Girls re-runs on TV, playing games with her family, coloring and decorating cookies with her "sis", Heidi Jo.

Chrissy had a beautiful soul. She always had a smile on her face especially if she was antagonizing her brother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved children. She spent a lot of her time keeping up with friends and family on Facebook and posting recipes.

Chrissy lived at home her entire life and was cared for by her mother, who was also her best friend. Her mother, Elaine, is a shining example of what a mother’s love truly means as she fought every day to keep Chrissy healthy.

Chrissy met a lot of nurses throughout her life and many of them became dear friends who provided, assistance, care and love to her whenever she needed it. We would never be able to thank all of them for the medical treatment that they provided during Chrissy’s life, but we know that Chrissy thought of them not only as her family, but as her angels.

If you would like to honor Chrissy and are attending the celebration gathering, we encourage you to wear her favorite color purple.

Chrissy's celebration of life gathering will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, June 17, 2022, at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Inurnment will take place in Parkview Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Christina Simmons Memorial Fund at Morton Community Bank.
