Charles was born on March 9, 1928 to Albert Ivor and Dorothy (Closen) Cullen. He married Margaret Woolsey on September 9, 1950. She preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Charles is survived by his sons, Bob (Deb) Cullen of East Peoria, IL and Chuck (Debbie) Cullen of Peoria; his grandchildren, Brian Cullen, Stacey Watson, Shannon Colgan and Shawn Cullen; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marty (Al) Bishop of Spring Bay, IL and Sharon Monroe of Norwood, IL; two sister-in-laws; his uncle, Donald (Barbara) Cullen of Pekin, IL and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Bob and Chuck’s brother, Cary Cullen of Texas.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy. He then worked for Princess Peggy for over 30 years and later for Johnson Hydraulic. Charles was an avid bowler, playing for major bowling leagues, as well as playing softball at Proctor Center. He also was an avid gardener and was a Chicago Cub fan.
Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:30am at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with visitation beginning at 9:30am. Rev. Stephen Tibbetts will be officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
