Cathy D. Aronhalt

She was born to Harold E. and Darlene M. (Johnson) Nelson on July 17, 1956 in Peoria. She married Grover D. Aronhalt Jr. on July 7, 1988 in Colorado Springs, and he survives.

She is also survived by her son Brandon Aronhalt of Chillicothe, step-sons, Grover “DJ” Aronhalt III of Peoria and Justin Aronhalt of Pekin, grandchildren, Caden, Cody, Cheyenne, Kameron, and Kaitlin, sister, Kimberly (Richard) Gibson of Peoria, niece, Jennifer Nelson of Chicago, and her beloved dachshunds, Minnie and Copper.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Beginning as a secretary for Komatsu, Cathy returned to school to earn her Associates in Applied Science, and a certificate in office management as well as a SPHR certificate. During her tenure, she was very active in the Komatsu Activity Association serving in many leadership roles and was instrumental in planning picnics and holiday parties. She retired in 2020 as an HR manager after 45 years.

In her free time, she enjoyed swimming, bowling, baking, decorating cakes, collecting bunny figurines, puzzles, margaritas, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. She loved taking care of her plants, tending to her rosebushes, and watching the bunnies, ducks, and hummingbirds. Cathy cherished time spent with friends and family and was well known for being patient and kind.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning one hour before. Burial will take place at Springdale Cemetery.
