Dunlap – Carl William Whalen, 54, of Dunlap, IL passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Lee County, IL. Carl was born August 16, 1961 in Sullivan, IN to Albert Loren and Nila Elizabeth (Greenwood) Whalen, Sr. Surviving is his son Josh Whalen of Dunlap, IL, his siblings: Alice (Ben Barrett) Whalen of Nesbit, MS, Clay Curtis (Sally) Whalen of Terre Haute, IN, Judy (Tim) Whalen-Atwell of Mesa, AZ, Maryanne (David) Parker of Shelby, NC, Nila Joann (Steve) Jorgenson of Santa Rosa, CA, and James (Robin) Deakins of Nixa, MO, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his former wife Christine Mikrut of Dunlap, IL and his friend and mentor James Boswell of Terre Haute, IN. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Albert Whalen, Jr. Carl loved woodworking, landscaping, helping out his family with projects, and any other job that required him to be hands on. Carl was known for his infectious smile that could light up a room. A graveside service will be held at 10 am Friday, June 17, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kickapoo, IL.
