He was born June 20, 1948 in Peoria, IL to Willie B and Elouise (Otkins) Rogers.
Carl accepted Christ at a young age. He attended Roswell B Mason and Bryant Elementary Schools in Chicago before moving back to Peoria where he attended Manual High School. After high school, Carl went on to work a short time at TP & W Railroad as a railsman before joining the US Navy in 1967. He served on the historic USS Forrestal before returning home to Peoria and began working at Caterpillar.
Carl was very known and active within his community. He enjoyed listening to music, mainly his dusties, spending time with family and friends and most of all attending church.
Carl was a very loving man and was known for his straight forward personality and blunt sense of humor.
Carl loved and cared for his family. He was a great protector to all those he loved. He served as a custodian at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church for many years. After returning to Peoria, he became an active attendee at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elouise (Otkins) Rogers; father, Willie B. Rogers; brother, Roy Rogers; granddaughter, Tia Steward; grandsons, Trevor and Travis Rogers; great grandson, Jalil Green and brother-in-law, Robert Rutherford.
Carl leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Helice Rogers-McNabb (Michael) of Chicago, Carl Rogers of Chicago, Marcus Rogers (Stephanie) of Bloomington, IL, Derrick Warren of Phoenix, AZ and Carlos Rogers of St. Louis, MO; 31 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy White of McDonough, GA, Ollie Durham (Darryl) of Sun Prairie, WI, Ethel Brown (Cleveland) of Peoria, Linda Rutherford of Peoria, his adopted brother Lloyd Hardman of Chicago and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, November 3, 2023 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University St. in Peoria. Pastor Jimmie Burnside will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
The repast will be held at the Timeless Event Social Studio, 6816 N Frostwood Parkway in Peoria, IL 61615.
