Camilla Marie Burk

Camilla was born on August 11, 1922 in Peoria, IL to Nicholas and Margaret (Sullivan) Wagner. She married Wilbur G. Burk on September 20, 1941 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2011. Also preceding her in death are her parents; one son, Duane Burk; and one brother, William Wagner.

Surviving are her children, David (Marge) Burk, Becky (Larry) Russell, Kathy (Leonard) Borneman, Kristy (Norman) Astwood, Janice Burk, Janet Greenleaf, Michael Burk, Dianne (Steven) Larson and Denis (Michelle Wang) Burk; her daughter-in-law, Judy Burk; 28 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and one brother, Tom (Louise) Wagner.

Camilla was a Postal Clerk for the Peoria Postal Service in downtown Peoria for 20 years retiring in the 1980s. She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and was very active in church activities especially with the food pantry. She also volunteered at OSF St Francis Medical Center and drove cancer patients to and from their treatments. Camilla enjoyed traveling around the world with Wilbur and also enjoyed gardening. She will be remembered as always having a smile on her face.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 11am at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in East Peoria. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 4pm to 7pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with a service at 6:30pm. There will also be a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Father Stephen Willard will be officiating. Burial will at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to St. Monica’s Church Food Program or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
