Brenda Fay (Hunter) Ware

Brenda was born to Audrey (Collins) and Sylvester Hunter Sr. on May 10, 1957 in Peoria, IL. As a child, Brenda enjoyed baking, cooking, and playing sports. She graduated from Manual High School in 1975. While in high school she was on the gymnastics team and loved the uneven bars.

Brenda was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ, under the leadership of Elder Val Johnson, where she was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost. She was a very active member of the church having led many ministries and outreach programs like: Kid’s Night Out, Children’s Church, Marriage Enrichment, and G.P.A. (God’s Precious Angels).

Brenda met her husband, Eufus Lee Ware in 1979 at church. They married on May 17, 1980 and went on to have 4 sons: Gareth Ware, Courteney (Sheena) Ware both of Atlanta, GA., Andre Ware of Peoria, IL., and Everette Ware of Houston, TX., and 3 grandchildren: Giana Ware, Courteney Ware Jr, and Cy’ron Ware.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Brenda also loved baking. She baked growing up and when she left the corporate world in 2000 she and her husband opened The Cookie Shack. The Cookie Shack served as another ministry as she created even more outreach programs for the youth in the community.

Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was a second mother to countless others as she lived a life led by God. Brenda was known for her caring heart and strength. She loved children and loved every opportunity to be instrumental in their lives.

Brenda joins her mother, father, 2 sisters and 3 brothers in Heaven. Brenda is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, 2 sisters: Georgia Amerson, Michelle Hunter both of Indianapolis, IN., four brothers: Willivory Maxison (Barbara), Sylvester Hunter Jr. (Denise), Dwyane Hunter (Sheila), Kevin Hunter all of Peoria, IL., a host of nieces and nephews, God children, friends, and brothers and sisters in the Lord. Brenda leaves behind a legacy of love, sweets, and memories to be cherished until we see her again.

A memorial service will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm Monday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Funeral Chapel located at 2021 N. University St., Peoria, IL 61604.
