She was born on February 20, 1917 in Mount Pulaski, IL to Glen and Opal (Stuart) Evans. She married Melvin Bracken on October 13, 1934 in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 1991. Her parents, two sisters, Lukie Chelikas and Billie Turner and one great-grandson, Thomas Thompson Jr. also preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Marilyn Houlihan of Morton, three grandchildren, Guy (Mary) Houlihan of Morton, Don (Jamie) Houlihan of St. Louis, MO and Linda (Thomas) Thompson Sr. of Morton. Also surviving are three great-grandchildren, Miranda (Mike) Troeser of Peoria, Timothy Thompson of Morton and Joseph Thompson of Missouri, one great-great grandson, Austin Troeser of Peoria and her niece Josephine (Bill) Hyslop of Tennessee.
Blanche worked for many years on the bottling line at Hiram-Walker Distillary. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria.
A funeral service will be Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1:00pm with visitation one hour prior to the service at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Burial will follow the service at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
