He was born October 7, 1929 in Alpena, Michigan to Napoleon J. and Florence Peers Ducharme. He married Ann M. Mottor August 13, 1955 in Alpena where they made their home and raised their children. Ann passed away February 1, 2003 in Alpena.
Surviving are two sons, Michael (Laurie) Ducharme of Peoria, Jeff (Amanda) Ducharme of Washington; two daughters, Lori (Zack) Dvizac of Metamora, Patti Jo (Jeff) Gilliam of Old Fort, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Nicholas, Emily and Tea; four great grandchildren and one sister Dorothy Smith of Florida. He is also survived by his fiancée Judy Risius of Bartonville. In addition to his wife, one infant son Donald Leon Ducharme, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Blaine was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Following his military duty, he was a wheelsman on the Cement Carrier Townsend where he sailed the Great Lakes for over 10 years. He then worked as a Repair Shop Foreman for Glawe Equipment Company in Alpena for 20 years before retiring in 1992.
He was a Charter Member and former Deacon at the Alpena Baptist Church. After he moved to Peoria, he joined the Fellowship Bible Church and later the El Vista Baptist Church where he currently was a member.
Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday March 29, 2011 at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria with Rev. Joey Watt officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until service time. Military honors will be presented at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Evergreen Cemetery in Alpena, Michigan with Rev. Charles Price officiating. Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria has assisted the family with arrangements.
