He was born on December 9, 1943 in Leland, Mississippi to John and Mattie (Carter) Gordon. He married Charlotte Jordan on May 7, 1967 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Karla Gordon of Peoria, and William (Tammie) Gordon of Olive Branch, MS; his grandchildren, Alexis Sims, Breyanna Dennis, Kyla Gordon, and Maiya Gordon; his great-grandchildren, Kingston Sims, Olivia Sims, and Jordan Sims; and his siblings, Johnnie Mae Goodman, Ora Avery, Virgil Gordon, Helen Bell, and Gregory Gordon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Isaac, Albert and Danny Gordon.
Billy worked for Caterpillar for many years until his retirement in 2005. He loved taking care of his yard, gardening, fishing, his tools, and was known as his family’s advisor.
Billy's graveside service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 11am with Military Honors.
