Born on January 9, 1934, in Heath, Kentucky, Bill was the son of Alben and Mabel (Pottinger) Boldry. He married Marilyn (Haynes) Boldry on August 3, 1952. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, his children, Lynne (Mike) Caley of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Laurie (Larry, deceased) King of Germantown Hills, Illinois, Tom (Tracy) Boldry of Shawnee, Kansas, and Becky (Darren) Frye of Washington, Illinois, 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary.
Bill was a man of integrity. His walk, whether at home or work or church, was consistent as he sought to be faithful and bring glory to Christ. He believed that "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for man..."(Colossians 3:23) Whatever Bill put his hands to, he gave it his best. He graduated from Woodruff High School (1952) in the top ten, while working a second shift job at WABCO. He worked his professional life for International Paper Co., first as a pressman and then as plant manager of five locations. He retired in 1994 after 37 years.
The Lord granted him achievements and success at work, but none of that could compare to his deep love for Jesus and his family. Bill had a passion for studying God's Word and teaching. He taught Sunday School at Bethany Baptist Church and Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria, and Germantown Baptist Church in Germantown, Tennessee. Playing the piano and singing in the choir brought him joy throughout his life. He loved to golf and work in the yard. But his family was his biggest source of joy. He married the love of his life, Marilyn, and they were a team in every sense of the word. After retirement they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Bill will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to Bill's doctors, and caregivers Teresa, Pam, and Carol.
Bill’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 10:00 am Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Bethany Baptist Church 7422 North Heinz Lane, Edwards, IL. His son-in-law, Pastor J. Michael Caley will officiate. Burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Morton, IL.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 West Willow Knolls Road, Peoria and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Bethany Baptist Church Missions Fund, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the National Parkinson Foundation.
