She was born February 14, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa. She was raised in Peoria by her mother and step-father, Ellis and Faye Miller. She attended Manual High School. She married Walter A. White on February 11, 1967 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her sons, Melvin (Stephanie) Anderson of Chillicothe and Marc White (Bob Connolly) of Washington DC; step-daughter, Kathy White of London Mills; grandchildren, Tyler and Sabre Anderson and their mother Shari Anderson; step-grandson, Reuben Lima; great grandchildren, Payton and Aidan Morris and their father Mike, and Isabella Gresky and her father Craig; sisters, Judith (James) King of Peoria and Debra Miller of Santa Monica, CA; brother, Terrell Anderson (Damian Montgomery) of Lake Balboa, CA; a special cousin, Karen (Ernie) Williams of Bartonville; and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Marilyn Otten and Mary Louise Pullen.
Bev worked as a Manager and Editor for Caterpillar, Inc. and retired after 36 years of service.
She loved shopping trips with her sister Judy to Chicago and Iowa City, proclaiming the motto “Shop ‘til We Drop!” She also enjoyed dinners and social time with friends at the Elks Club of Peoria and enjoyed crossword puzzles and a variety of games.
She will be remembered as a devoted grandmother, attending many of her grandchildren’s activities, and loved family trips to Walt Disney World in Florida.
The family would like to thank the special people who helped Bev and her family through this journey: Dr. Gerstner, the nurses that gave Bev her monthly shots and all the caring people at the Peoria Cancer Center, the doctors and nurse practitioners, Susan and Jamie, nurses Megan and Gretchen and PCT Melody, who showed Bev such care and compassion in a most personal way at OSF Medical Center. Finally a heartfelt thank you to her home away from home where she truly wanted to spend her final days, the beautiful OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Thank you to Dr. Olsson and his wonderful staff for the peaceful, loving care Bev received in the last five days of her journey.
The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A Celebration Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
