PEORIA- Beulah M. Lisenby, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 6:30 a.m. August 29, 2010 at Manor Court in Peoria surrounded by members of her family. Mrs. Lisenby was a resident at Manor Court since 2008 where she was cared for by a skilled nursing staff and recently, members of hospice care.
Beulah was born on January 28, 1921 in Corbin, Kentucky to Lee and Mary Caulder Lanham, she married Joseph Lisenby on December 31, 1938 in Williamsburg, KY. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1988.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Donald Joe Lisenby, one sister, and three brothers.
Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Lynne) Lisenby, and Timothy (Michele) Lisenby both of Peoria; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Lee Hopper of; and two brothers, Earl Disney and Carl Disney.
She was a former member of Madison Avenue Methodist Church in Peoria.
Beulah Mae was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker to her husband and three sons. He eldest son was stricken with Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 8. She cared for him, through his battle with this disease as well as the rest of the family. His life would end at the young age of 17.
As her life continued her interests included drives with her husband in their “Buick” to visit her two boys and their families. She loved picnics in her backyard and meals around their dining room table. She looked forward to moments when family would come by and especially cherished visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would wait for them in her favorite “yellow” rocking chair on her front porch, when she knew they were coming.
Other interests were cooking, crocheting blankets and baby items, and caring for her flowers in her yard. She loved shopping, collecting dolls, Beanie Babies, and trinkets of all kinds.
Mom, you will be missed more than you could ever know.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the chapel. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
