Betty was born August 11, 1926 in Peoria, the daughter of Roy and Mable Long Markley. She married Roy Roeder on April 28, 1946 in Peoria. He preceded her in death. Betty was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother (Donald), and one son (Steven).
She is survived by her children, Mary (Daniel) Bahl of Mansfield, OH, Edward (Diana) Roeder of Washington, Michael Roeder of Madison, WI, Paul Roeder of Peoria, and Lisa Roeder of Edwards; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Phyllis Markley of Peoria.
She was a bookkeeper/ secretary for District 150 until her retirement in 1993.
Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time on her front porch. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured vacations in Wisconsin; being with family by the lake.
Betty was a member the First Church of the Brethren of Peoria.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Pastor Dana McNeil will officiate.
Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kim Frakes, who provided loving care for Betty. Sincere appreciation is also extended to the medical staff, nurses, and Palliative Care team at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center.
