Betty F. Nelson

Betty F. Nelson, 88, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Unity Point Health Proctor Hospital in Peoria surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 22, 1928 in Peoria, Illinois to Domenico and Celestina (Zara) D’Alfonso. She was first married to Dale H. Schwartz; he preceded her in death on February 5, 1989. She later married Lester L. Nelson on November 2, 1990 in Peoria, Illinois. He survives.

She is survived by five children: Lynn (Keith) Reuter of Herod, Illinois, Diane (John) Jordan of Dunlap, Illinois, Michael (Billi) Nelson of Centennial, Colorado, David (Alex) Connors of Sherman Oaks, California and Lawrence (Donita) Nelson of Metamora, Illinois. She has five grandchildren: Kimberly, Jennifer, Heather, Brian and Amanda; nine great grandchildren: Cody, Brandon, Colt, Dakotah, Fiona, Astrid, Fallon, Zynphany and Kiera. She has one sister surviving, Jean Hacker of East Peoria, Illinois. She is preceded in death by one grandson, Matt, and three brothers, Nick, Ramon and Danny.

Betty was a licensed beautician all of her life at several area shops, last working at Riverview Healthcare Center in East Peoria, retiring in 1991. She and her husband loved to travel. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was an avid golfer and loved to shop. Betty was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Peoria.

Funeral services will be Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Davison Fulton Woolsey Wilton Funeral Home. Father Thomas Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 PM until 6 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
