Betty was born on October 4, 1928 in Chicago, to Arthur and Gertrude (Zimmermann) McGurk. She married John A. Conner Sr. in 1946 and together they had three children. Later on Betty met Glen S. Campbell, and they were married until his passing in August 1991.
She is also preceded in death by her parents; son, Kent S. Conner; and her three siblings.
Betty is survived by her two children, John (Lois) Conner Jr. or Leesburg, FL, and Kellie Drumm of Peoria; grandsons Ryan (Connie) Garretts of Peoria, and Reed (Ashley) Garretts of St. Joseph, MO; and her three great-grandchildren, Bryce, Lucas and Madalynn.
She was a graduate of the old Manuel High School, and with her close classmates they formed the Birthday Group. Every month they would get together to celebrate birthdays and enjoy catching up with each other. Throughout her life Betty worked various jobs, including her position as Executive Secretary at RLI until her retirement in the early 80's. She was a devoted member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church for 40 years. She often spent her time working at the Redeemer Lutheran Library, as well as the Lutheran Hillside Village gift shop as their Book Lady. She loved reading, and crossword puzzles. Betty was a very independent woman, and took great pride in caring for her home and yard.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7th, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, at 2pm, with a visitation to start a half hour prior, at 1:30pm. Burial will take place at Parkview Cemetery.
