She was born on March 6, 1948 in Metamora, a daughter of Theodore Dubois and Rose (Garber) Dubois. Bernadine married Ramon Streitmatter on June 27, 1981 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2015 in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, and Marvin Dubois; and one sister, Margaret Rowden.
Bernie is survived by her children, Pamela Cottingham of Peoria and Janet (John) Schuster of Washington, David Streitmatter of Dunlap, Leonard (Rachel) and Robert Streitmatter, both of Peoria; grandchildren, Lauren (Adam) Wertzler of Morton, Alyssa (Dylan Swerig) Cottingham of Wisconsin, Brooke (Matt) Batton, and Paige Streitmatter, both of Peoria; Brendan and Jake Schuster both of Washington; three great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Makenna, and Lillie; and one brother, Richard (Carol) Dubois of Lacon, IL.
She last worked as a child care provider with Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria for many years during the late 90's to early 2000's. Bernie was a caring and loving person, who never met a stranger, and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Bernie was a member of The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria and volunteered with Sophia's Kitchen also in Peoria.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Saturday, July 15, 2023, with visitation one hour prior to the service at The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria. Fr. William T. Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
