Barbara J. Roach

She was born Sep. 5, 1938 in Peoria to Verlin D. and Fern (Houchens) Hammer. She first married Gerald Wright March 21, 1955 in Peoria. She later married George Roach, Jr. Nov. 20, 1962 in Peoria. He passed away Nov. 22, 2004 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters: Patricia “Patti” Etherton (her best friend), and Nancy Pease.

Survivors include seven children: Gwynn Guiliano of Glasford, Tracey Wright of Peoria, Barry Wright of Peoria, Wendy (John) Williamson of West Peoria, George Roach III of Glasford, Jill (Chad) Batterham of Mapleton, and Jodi (Brett) Roach-King of Metamora. She was also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one brother, Larry Hammer of Hanna City, and her beloved cockatiel, Budgie, who she adopted in Aug. 1988.

Barbara enjoyed gardening and feeding the wild animals and birds around her house. She especially loved her dog Muffy and bird Budgie.

Funeral services will be Monday July 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Princeville Cemetery.
