Barbara Joan Mason

She was born February 23, 1930 in Detroit, MI, a daughter of Clark and Alice Bryson Vanderpool. She married Jack Mason on March 14, 1949. He survives.

Also surviving are three children, Michael Mason Sr., David Mason, and Susan Mason all of Peoria; one granddaughter, Sara Reents of Peoria; one sister, Betty Russell of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews; and her two cats Simone and Charlie both who she adored.

She is preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Mason Jr., one brother Dale Vanderpool, and one sister, Maxine Hillyer.

She attended beauty school in downtown Peoria and graduated in 1983.

Barbara worked as a Hairdresser for 20 years, last at Shear Talent in Peoria and retired in 2000.

She loved to oil paint, and enjoyed traveling with her husband. The highlight of their travels was a trip to Hawaii for their 50th wedding anniversary.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
